Viewing Notes

This week’s pick for Horror Squad’s Movie Club was Night of the Demons 2, a movie I had yet to see. And…it delivers.

In fact I think because it’s directed by BTS, it really has the feeling of some of the better 80s horror films, with solid effects and some great one liners.

A group of Catholic kids are in a private school and one of the, Mouse, is the sister of a girl who apparently disappeared in the first film, sucked down to Hell or some such terrible fate. The girls and some delinquent boys decide to go to the house where all the murders from the first film happened so celebrate on Halloween night and naturally all Hell breaks loose.

Ben Stiller’s wife, Christine Taylor is in it and there’s a great line from one of the douchebag guys where he calls her Marcia, funny since she stars as her in the Brady Bunch movie a few years later.

I really loved the death metal from Morbid Angel in the film, that there was lots of gratuitous nudity, terrific practical effects including an amazing scene where a pair of boobs turns into hands and grabs a guy’s hand and melts it and then I also love all the demon makeup.

I need to see Night of the Demons now to see what led up to this amazing film.
