Viewing Notes

A pretty effective crime thriller that would’ve been a noir if it had been made in the ‘40s or ‘50s. There’s some untidiness in the plot, probably left on the editing room floor, but that’s ok. I still liked it a lot.

I went into the movie with very little knowledge of what it was about, which turns out was for the best. If you’re going to see it, I recommend going in blind.

Rooney Mara turns in a nice performance here, and she’s probably the highlight of the film, after the great cinematography and soundtrack.
