Viewing Notes

Beneath was my first screening at the Stanley Film Festival and I knew nothing about it going in except that it was directed by Larry Fessenden, whose previous movies I’ve mostly enjoyed. Turns out this wasn’t going to be one of them.

Most of the movie felt mediocre, nothing new or fresh and obviously shot on a low budget and in a short amount of time. That’s not to say that there weren’t things to like about it, namely the giant prehistoric non-CG fish, which was awesome! There are also some interesting interactions between a few of the characters that take it out of the norm.

Easily my least liked film of the entire festival.
