Viewing Notes

A little more pedestrian than I was expecting but it was definitely unsettling and anchored by great performances. Weird seeing it in a theater with an all-white audience; one middle-aged couple walked out in the middle of the film. Seeing the casual racism of middle class white America depicted on screen might’ve hit a little too close to home for them.

***SPOILER ALERT***

I really enjoyed the symbolism of the weapons Chris chooses to use to kill his antagonists, symbols of white upper class America: a cricket ball and a stuffed trophy deer’s antlers were both excellent choices.
