And then the wheels went off the bus. The first two [rec] movies are a great standalone one-two punch but there was also a lot of potential to expand on the primary story line. Instead we get a tangentially connected riff that’s hit and miss.

There are lot of in-jokes about the switch from found footage to a normally shot movie. TBH I’m happy they moved away from the found footage since the wedding found footage at the beginning isn’t all that great.

There are some pretty fun, gory moments that offset the rather pedantic true love storyline but not enough to elevate this one above average for me.
