Viewing Notes

The first film in the new Pearl River collection of martial arts films more off the radar. This one is an independent Taiwanese production with some great fight choreography. It’s mired down by the silliness in the middle portion of the film but the bookends are well worth the watch.

This is a pretty good print of the film too. Not Shaw Brothers restored quality, so there’s still a fair amount of scratches and debris, but the overall quality and color are there. The subtitles are burned on the print in white, which make them difficult to see at times. There’s also a dubbed version on the disc.
