Viewing Notes

The SISTER STREET FIGHTER movies are barely held together with the thinnest of plots and nowhere is that more apparent than in HANGING BY A THREAD, the first of three sequels. There’s some bat shit crazy stuff going on in this movie. The villains are obviously inspired by a lot of the live action hero shows on Japanese TV at the time. I’m kinda surprised none of them transform into other creatures to be honest.

This may be the most lurid of all the films too. I’m a big proponent of uncensored and uncut films being released but I have to question the decision to leave (what appears to be) a child pornography prominently displayed behind the bad guys in a scene right after we’ve established they’re sexual predators. It felt wrong. It didn’t just feel wrong, it was wrong.

That aside, the rest of the film likes to wallow in the gutter as well, which is fun for the most part. Sex and fight scenes kind of just pop up out of nowhere and it all feels like a bunch of strung together episodes of a failed TV series, but you can’t help but enjoy it.
