Viewing Notes

An interesting spin-off from the original SCANNERS trilogy. Well done considering it must’ve had a pretty small budget. Love the opening scene with the rogue scanner and his son.

I didn’t think Daniel Quinn in the lead role did a great job with his acting (turns out he acquits himself nicely in the sequel so maybe this was more on the director). Darlanne Fluegel does great as the doctor trying to the help the cop.

Nice to see Richard Lynch as the bad guy, though he doesn’t get nearly enough screen time. The bad guy screen time is devoted to his disciple, Zena. Nice to see Brion James of BLADERUNNER fame show up in an all-too-small role as well.

I’m still astounded that VS released this as a box set with the sequel, both in 4K UHD! What a time to be alive!
