Somebody really needs to release a nicely remastered version of this and its sequel as a set. My DVD is awful. Non-anamorphic so it just sits there in the middle of the screen; dubbed with no original language track; and it’s a DVD.
Despite that it’s still great to revisit this and see this amazing trio of actresses. Anthony Wong as a bird-eating demon wielding a flying guillotine is a definite choice!
Also loved the brutalist set used for the hospital and newborn ward. So very ‘90s! This feels more like a Tsui Hark film than a Johnnie To film.

Earlier this year there was news about Criterion releasing both movies since Janus Films did the restoration for the DCP. There was no official word from Criterion on the release as they usually kept mum until they formally announce it but ppl were speculating bc of the Janus restoration work. Fingers crossed that the Criterion release happens. Was opening it would’ve been announced by now.
