Viewing Notes

This movie does some things really well which makes the things it doesn’t do well a little more frustrating. The cinematography is pretty well done, especially the mailbox shot. It does a great job of building suspense (at least in the first half). The fact that the house which has a creature in it that literally dwells only in the dark never really has any lights turned on by the people who live there is hilarious to the point of it being distracting. And the whole high school friend group thing is ridiculous. Those characters only exist to move certain plot points forward in the least impactful ways. You don’t normally invite your bullies to a party either.
