Viewing Notes

Kiba, a less cynical hero than his spaghetti western counterparts, is back in the second and final installment of the SAMURAI WOLF series. This film is very much in the same vein as the first, shot in high contrast black and white in dusty and/or muddy locations which only serves to add to the grittiness of surroundings. Kiba is a bit of an idealistic simpleton when it comes to his decision making. While he may do what he believes is honorable, the people he helps often prove themselves unworthy of his trust. The plot is chock full of devious machinations by conniving, backstabbing, double crossing characters who betray themselves to death in mostly violent, bloody sword fights highlighted by the same visual style Gosha employed in the first film to great effect.
