Viewing Notes

Released by Gold Ninja Video under the American title THE IRON FIST STRIKES BACK, this is a surprisingly good modern martial arts film from Hong Kong starring Bruce Lee impersonator (even though he’s going under the name Li, I would consider this a Bruce Lee exploitation flick in only in the most superficial sense, based on the American marketing) Bruce Li. The print the disc was mastered from is from nicely worn, theater-used film elements that give it a nice lived-in feel that I actually liked. I love restored, pristine films too, but in this case I think the scratches and defects give it a nice character.

This was directed on the down low by Shaw Brothers director Kuei Chih-Hung who is better known for his more violent martial arts and horror output at Shaw Brothers, including KILLER CONSTABLE, CORPSE MANIA, BEWITCHED and more.
