Perhaps the epitome of ‘80s era sci-fantasy excess, Flash Gordon, like Krull, suffers from its post-Star Wars comparisons; it harkens back to a more dumbed down, kitschy approach to sci-fi and fantasy that had dogged the genres since the ‘30s and the age of the cliffhangers.

My kids had never seen it, so I figured now was as good a time as any to expose them to it.
