Viewing Notes

Not entirely successful but still interesting and a good watch. It’s certainly darker and more sinister than I expected, though overlong and burdened by some poor directorial/scriptwriting decisions.

The movie could have done without the added complexity of Snow White’s childhood friend, streamlining the running time there; or using the time to develop the Snow White and Huntsman characters deeper, and hopefully establishing more empathy.

Probably the biggest flaw was the lack of empathy for the main protagonists.

Charlize Theron does a pretty good job as the evil stepmother, but I her performance seemed disjointed at times. I was left wondering whether some of her scenes ended up on the cutting room floor.
