Viewing Notes

Third and final doc in my Imamura triple feature at Film Center today. Plays out more like a National Geographic special as Imamura visits two factions of sea island dwellers in the Philippines that don’t like each while being threatened by nearby island pirates. Very fascinating to see how these people on the water and survive this way under a shadow of fear. Another good investigative doc by Imamura and a nice cap to the three films of his viewed today.
