Viewing Notes

Can’t say I was disappointed because I had already heard enough bad about this going into to it. The screenplay is a mess. For a 2.5 hour movie everything feels so rushed. Probably the kitchen sink effect in having too many pieces crammed in there that none really get the proper development.

The Garfield / Stone stuff is magic and really could have been the centerpiece; focus on their relationship while Spidey contends with Electro and reuniting with Harry. All else should have been saved for the next film, esp. Gwen’s character arc.

Honestly it’s weird how easy it is to size up what could have made this film better, stronger and tighter but was entirely lost on the studio and Marc Webb. Not sure who to blame in the end but this really is a mess.

The watchtower clock homage is also a bad play to reference that sequence. In that moment we shouldn’t be chuckling that we noticed an easter egg. The entire subplot with Peter’s father is still baffling and detracts from all that is good about this character. Such a head-scratcher of a movie.

The set-up for the Sinister Six is dumb.
