Viewing Notes

From the director of “Casshern” comes a story of banished knights plotting revenge for the death of their king.

Or something like that.

Pretty dreary melodrama that turns on the action in the finale big setpiece. Definitely a movie that had more potential on paper than translated to the big screen. Wastes a lot of time wallowing in the drama between the betrayal, paranoia and malaise. Which only serves to punctuate that the bad people are bad people.

Weirdest thing is the casting of so many Japanese actors in a period piece set somewhere in the old country. It’s cool to see Japanese actors but so strange in this setting. I believe there is a reason stated in the movie for this but it was lost on me or glossed over.
