Viewing Notes

Read a lot about this film, more than usual. The buzz was strong so I finally made my way out to see it using a free pass voucher, which was good to have because for some reason this is the first film where the price was fixed for admission. Same $15 price for every showing at every theater screening it. I guess for that reason Moviepass wouldn’t cover it.

Anyways, this is a pretty intense and epic film with an overly CG heavy composition. Didn’t realize this was only first part in a greater story that will see part two released next year. I was wondering what was going to happen as the second of this movie is a flashback to the story of the two brothers.

I’m not drinking the same kool-aid as others but I did enjoy this movie and look forward to the conclusion. Lots to like between the leads and the hero story and the rise to power plus betrayal. Very similar to other epic period dramas with all the integral components.

This is first time I’ve seen the “C.G.I.” watermark on the screen during scenes featuring a CG animal. I guess so that people know a real animal isn’t being used or harmed. So annoying and distracting. Took me out of the movie. It’s ridiculous that this is even necessary.
