Viewing Notes

Surprised it took me this long to finally see this but viewing it on the big screen for my first time was quite a treat. The print was nearly flawless in which most of time I wondered if we were really watching a print rather than DCP. Super clean and crisp. Must have been a newly struck or rarely screened. Also probably the most people I’ve seen at any of the Suzuki screenings at Film Center since the series started.

The movie is so wild in how Suzuki demonstrates the path to being the #1 assassin among a guild of assassins. I know this is a distant cousin to his Branded to Kill and it feels like he’s trying to recapture experience with mixed results. Not nearly as great but still its own thing.
