Viewing Notes

Here for the Cecilia.

Sometime around 15 years ago when I was buying a lot of HK DVDs from ebay, Adam said, “just because it’s from Hong Kong doesn’t mean it’s good.” Or something to that effect. That’s a phrase I think of often when I see movies like this one which is proof that HK is just as capable of creating awful rom-coms as Hollywood.

If this were a H’wood flick I’d probably give it a 4 or 5. But watching CC for 90 minutes goes a long way even if her character has no redeemable qualities (other than just being drop dead beautiful). This is a movie where all the main characters are just awful people or have a really bad trait, which is part of the plot.

CC is the shopaholic and lacks any responsibility for her behavior. Lau Ching-Wan is doctor/psychiatrist that can’t make a decision or choose between two things. There’s other characters that are terrible and all of them just keep doing dumb things. By the end there is no change or redemption. The entire wedding sequence is silly.

Would not bother with this again as there are far better CC films to view. Plus it’s kinda gross to watch people be so irresponsible for their actions as if there are no consequences or they can buy their way out. It’s just not a fun “comedy”.
