Viewing Notes

Damn what a movie. Shot up into my top ten or top 15. Hard to say with the year it’s been but goddamn this is a helluva a movie. Woody Harrelson’s voice over just crushed me. Solid cast and acting from all involved. Just a gut punch of a movie that really floored me.

The only weird thing about my screening was the handful of people in my theater that laughed LOUDLY at every mildly amusing thing. This isn’t a comedy but certainly has humorous moments. These people were laughing like they were viewing a standup comic. It was so incredibly bizarre especially given the overall tone of this story.

Also interesting choice to have Abbie Cornish retain her Australian accent. Was trying to figure out how this woman ended up in a small town in Missouri. Just an odd character thing in a very Southern tinged screenplay.

Out here, and near my parents in Missouri, I’ve come across so many people from all over the world who’ve settled down in little towns like Ebbing that it didn’t even phase me at all.

Oh I’m sure. It just had me wondering bc at first I wasn’t sure she was just pretending to have the accent. Once it was apparent that it was her own it made me wonder what her backstory was.
