Viewing Notes

Having never seen this I let it roll when I was checking out TubiTV offerings. Very early Dwayne Johnson role when he still sported a little hair. And when it was still willing to kiss his female love interest. Haven’t seen the original since I was a kid and it was on regular rotation on HBO and I barely remember it. I’m guessing this is fairly close to the same premise. Yet everything here is one action or drama beat to set up the next beat… like totally off the shelf screenplay with all the boxes checked. It’s so damn dopey and predictable that it just becomes annoying.

However I suppose this is the beginning of The Rock’s turn to the hero savior role for the remainder of his career. Also Johnny Knoxville as the quirky sidekick role.
