Overview

Demons that once almost destroyed the world, are revived by someone. To prevent the world from being destroyed, the demon has to be sealed and the only one who can do it is the shrine maiden Shion from the country of demons, who has two powers; one is sealing demons and the other is predicting the deaths of humans. This time Naruto’s mission is to guard Shion, but she predicts Naruto’s death. The only way to escape it, is to get away from Shion, which would leave her unguarded, then the demon, whose only goal is to kill Shion will do so, thus meaning the end of the world. Naruto decides to challenge this “prediction of death.”

Viewing Notes

Wasn’t sure I had seen this Naruto movie (the first after the launch of the Naruto Shippuden tv series) but it did seem familiar, esp the Terracotta army in that shitty digital CG. Really doesn’t blend well here and overall the animation isn’t great. Story isn’t so hot either and basically a rehash of other similar plots (both the 1st and 3rd Naruto films where they are assigned bodyguard duty). Only difference here is that the priestess can see the future deaths of those close to her and sees Naruto’s death. Of course this premise cannot play out because you know the main character of this anime series will not die so it’s by the numbers to the eventual outcome of success for the team.

Oh the other similarity to the same bodyguard premise as those other movies: the priestess is a spoiled brat and treats Naruto (and team) like shit. Yawn

I hope the other films get better than this one. Barely give this a 6/10 bc I love Naruto and Rock Lee and Sakura so much as a team. Wish they had been a better screenplay.
