Viewing Notes

This was the film programmed for tonight (rescheduled from last week due to the polar vortex) but tonight we had an ice storm / freezing rain so I decided not to go. Can’t imagine there being a large turnout tonight, sadly.

Found a version on YouTube that will have to suffice.

This probably would look pretty nice in 35mm technicolor. The movie is fine altho filled with all those things that make mid-century colonialism stories a bit uncomfortable, i.e. “run the indians out of florida so we can exploit the land they are wasting so let’s sneak massacre them”

Despite being a Rock Hudson vehicle it’s Anthony Quinn that steals the movie.
