Viewing Notes

Won’t even pretend that I understand this plot (the description here only describes like 15% of the actual story) but damn this is some ridiculous entertainment. First you have Candy Wen in a primary role who also has a sit-com scene replete with sit-com music (she’s also a badass). Then you have Ti Lung, Jason Pai Piao, and Lieh Lo as the main trio, which would be a movie on its own. But there’s more! Venom Mob’s Sun Chien in support plus stalwarts Ku Feng and Wong Ching-Ho among many others.

Lots of crazy sets but the finale set is an all timer bc it looks like a community college stage play. No joke it’s comical and so bad it’s good. Then there’s the final battle. Did I mention that Ti Lung’s character possesses some serious kung fu skills that he can literally move so fast he creates multiples of himself to fight more than one opponent at the same time?

Cannot say this is a good movie but it’s entertaining for all the reasons above. And a comedy (at least I think so) bc of a few scenes (the Candy Wen sneaking cake and later with the Emperor’s food tasting). Plus this score!

Oh yeah there’s some awesome instrument performances with mostly stringed instruments like the koto. They are really sweet.
