Viewing Notes

Stuck around at my local AMC to catch the GKids / Fathom Events presentation of Nausicaa. I’ve seen this big one time prior on 35mm but have been wanting to revisit having seen so many other Ghibli films on the big screen in recent years but not this one. Also that 35mm was the English dubbed version. Enjoyed it more this time. For a long while this was one of my favorite Ghibli / Miyazaki films but when I saw it in 35mm it didn’t sit right. So that’s why I was eager to revisit. (Yes, I have it on Blu but always prefer the theater experience)

Some of the themes resonated more (always knew it was a Man vs Nature flick but there are more levels of complexity in this). I like how each of the different nations have valid reasons for what they want yet none realize the vital importance of The Sea of Decay really has. This is quite a great film esp. for early Miyazaki and way before Mononoke, which addresses similar themes. This viewing did make me want to revisit my VHS of Warriors of the Wind which was my first exposure to this movie, tho heavily edited and English dubbed, I fell in love with it. Want to see how different it is compared to the original.

I love Teto, the fox-squirrel. I want one.
