Viewing Notes

This was a last minute substitution for Synchronizer, which the distributor failed to send to Doc Films, as Will explained during the introduction. Was looking forward to Synchronizer but this was a great replacement and another one I hadn’t seen. There’s a lot of Kiyoshi Kurosawa vibes in this. Understandable given the series (both Kurosawa and Kunitoshi Manda studied under Hasumi Shigehiko).

Film begins with a brutal murder of a family. The murderer then sets up his capture w/the all the news channels so it’s broadcast across all stations. A young woman (the gorgeous Eiko Koike) sees the broadcast then becomes obsessed with the man, now a prisoner who won’t speak to his lawyer or in court. It turns into a drama / romance as the fate of the man is determined. Solid flick.
