Viewing Notes

Really enjoyed spending time in this world with a nod towards film noir. Was a bit strange to view in color and the digital picture. Feels a lot like the type of films Hollywood used to make on the regular not that long ago. Reminded me of Sleepers (1996). Just a nice movie to see some great actors chewing scenery.

The mystery is fine and not surprising as it was revealed. I like all the weird side characters like Fisher Stevens. Some of the period details were distracting. One example is when they use real vintage vehicles and they’re often from collectors leased for the project so of course they’re in pristine condition. It’s always weird to see these mint condition automobiles. Another example is Ed Norton’s hairstyle was rather anachronistic. Of course it’s easy to let these slide when the real focus is on the story and whether the story works. But they’re slight distractions I notice. Still enjoyed the film and I’m glad Ed Norton made it.

The Tourette’s was an interesting choice but I like it. Made me laugh a few times.
