Overview
New rules enforced by the Lady Mayoress mean that sex, weight, height and intelligence need no longer be a factor for joining the Police Force. This opens the floodgates for all and sundry to enter the Police Academy, much to the chagrin of the instructors. Not everyone is there through choice, though. Social misfit Mahoney has been forced to sign up as the only alternative to a jail sentence and it doesn’t take long before he falls foul of the boorish Lieutenant Harris. But before long, Mahoney realises that he is enjoying being a police cadet and decides he wants to stay… while Harris decides he wants Mahoney out!

Viewing Notes
When I heard the entire Police Academy was available on Netflix it didn’t elicit any kind of response b/c I’m not really nostalgic for the series having only seen the first couple of installments back in the day. In fact I’m pretty sure I viewed the first PA not that long ago (pre-logging) but in the ‘00s. When I saw that I hadn’t logged it here I decided to give the first movie a spin.
Guess I was in the right state of mind for it b/c I enjoyed the hell outta this viewing. Like I was laughing OL a lot. Forgot Kim Cattrall is also in this (second billed!) and she’s just the bees knees. I love her 80s to early 90s work and that she was in flicks like this and Big Trouble, Split Second, Mannequin, etc. She doesn’t even have a very big part in this but she’s fun to have around w/the others. Maybe I was just slaphappy or something but this movie was super fun gave me the itch to view the others. Guess I like rooting for the underdogs.
