Viewing Notes

I watched this a few weeks ago via Archive.org bc I couldn’t get the dvd from the library at the time. Welp, now that the library reopened for carryout service I got the dvd. Figured I’d just view it again since it is a pretty good film.

The technicolor production really pops and that theatre set is exquisite. I do like how unhinged Claude Rains becomes even if it happens so quickly (he just snaps!). The love triangle business robs some of the tension but it’s fine. I do think this is more crime thriller than horror but wouldn’t argue against it. There is a great giallo that could be made based on this premise.
