Viewing Notes

Initially wasn’t going to see this on the big screen until I realized that I haven’t seen this in the theater since it was released! Besides me there are 3 other ppl here.

There’s been a few rep screenings in recent years but none that have worked out for me so I’m glad to have this opportunity. I may have only logged it 3x here but I’ve seen this movie a bunch more than that. This time I noticed new things like the wilhem scream is during the truck sequence towards the end. The clicking glass sound from when Marian throws down the ice is so loud! It was a foley mistake they never corrected. Seeing Toht’s dummy in the car bc he was sick that day is so obvious now!

The foley sound FX are so exaggerated esp for the gunshots and particularly Indy’s pistol. It sounds very heavy gauge and almost like a shotgun. The score really stood out on this viewing, perhaps bc I actually had really great audio in the cinema. There are three different pieces that are reworks of Williams’ Star Wars. Really wild to notice that.

One of the big reasons why I haven’t revisited the Indiana Jones films very much or at all is bc I have both LEGO games they made based on the films. I’ve played both so many times for two different systems that the stories and scenes from these films are so engrained in my head from attempting to complete them 100 percent, which requires multiple play-thrus. So watching the movies I’m constantly seeing those moments as I played them in the games. It’s weird!!

Anyways, this was awesome to see big and remains one of the most entertaining movies of all time. Just moves so briskly setpiece to setpiece. I forgot how violent and scary it is but I love it as a gateway to more intense action adventure. And Karen Allen is just amazing, talented and gorgeous. She should’ve been a huge star. I really love this movie.
