Viewing Notes

Back on my RE bullshit. I’ve really come around on this movie in the last 10 years. tbh I can’t believe it’s been 10 years since this was released. I still recall going to see this after work in 3D at AMC Showplace after work and walking out disappointed.

I’ve gotten over all the things that let me down and now just enjoy this as yet another chapter in this larger story. I really like how they re-introduce Ali Larter’s Claire Redfield into the story. She’s really great. Altho I have to note how absurd it is that after Alice finds Claire all strung out from the device attached to her chest, Alice cleans her up and she applies make-up somehow that she (and Alice, tbf) maintain for the remainder of the movie. Like how or why would wearing make-up in this survival situation be of any importance whatsoever? Of course it’s for the movie but it’s just so frickin’ ridiculous that the women have to appear like this. Whatevs.

I’m still astonished that I love this series so much given how much I hate zombies. Was trying to reconcile that opinion during this movie and I think it’s because these “zombies” are more than just zombies; they’re mutated creatures that transform into monsters. I least that’s what I tell myself but it works. I viewed this via Netflix b/c my Blu is packed away. And despite owning all these on Blu I’m highly tempted to get the series on 4k UHD in that box set.
