Overview
Metal drummer Ruben begins to lose his hearing. When a doctor tells him his condition will worsen, he thinks his career and life is over. His girlfriend Lou checks the former addict into a rehab for the deaf hoping it will prevent a relapse and help him adapt to his new life. After being welcomed and accepted just as he is, Ruben must choose between his new normal and the life he once knew.

Viewing Notes
A couple weeks ago I registered for an advanced screening* for this movie which was it getting lots of great WOM and reviews. Didn’t realize the screening was only 2 days before the release on Prime (Dec 4). Decided to go ahead a view anyways b/c I really don’t know if I’ll have to time to watch when it hits Prime (plus I’ll be less likely to view it as per usual w/any original film released on a streaming platform—- because it will always be available on that platform).
As for the movie, it’s really good tho not exactly the movie I thought it was. That said, it’s still a cool flick with another excellent performance by Riz Ahmed. I didn’t realize that was Olivia Cooke until the final act. There’s a cool moment in this that nearly broke me (it’s really wonderful).
*meant having a coded watermark randomly appear on the screen which was weird given that it will be on Prime sans watermark in 2 days.
