Viewing Notes

Since my library reopened the building to all access I’ve been able to check out the new release shelves on the 3rd floor. Decided to grab a few titles I could throw on while sorting trash and paperwork. Based on the WOM from last year I had a feeling this wasn’t gonna be a movie for me but wanted to give a chance anyways.

Welp. I was correct. Not a fan. That said, I can see why some would like this film and I suspect the movie would’ve played reasonably well in theater with a younger crowd. It’s unfortunate bc I like this cast a whole lot even tho the only way I recognized Dan Stevens was his odd vocal inflection when he does his “American accent” a la THE GUEST. Overall, this is a well made film (feature directorial debut by Dave Franco, IIRC) and solid acting with a familiar premise. My issues stem from story beats I absolutely despise in relationship flicks. Additionally the “how do we handle this” maneuvering when shit goes sideways completely check me out of caring.

The vacation house reminded me of the home in COME TO DADDY. Not the same place but oddly similar.
