Viewing Notes

This was the #slutfluff movie for their live tweet. Saw that it was on Kanopy so I watched it there since I hadn’t seen it before back when most of Rollin’s films were on Amazon. The Kanopy transfer is the old Redemption SD so doesn’t look very good blown up on my TV. Still watchable but murky esp. with all the night for night filming. Had me wondering if any of Rollin’s films have undergone 2K or 4K scans for HD releases. I know the movies have been available on Blu for a while (I own a few) but I dunno if they were updated scans or restorations. It would nice to have UHD releases but that might be asking too much at this point. Rollin’s films are so lush with imagery and details, UHD would serve them well.

The premise of this movie is a good one: two twenty-somethings get stuck at a cemetery overnight and begin freaking out when they can’t find a way out. That said, it’s not a horror movie (horror-adjacent for sure). It’s more melodrama with histrionics from both main characters when they realize they are trapped.

Françoise Pascal is insanely gorgeous in this with blue eye shadow that won’t quit. Jean Rollin definitely knew how to pick ‘em.
