Overview

Newspaper magnate Charles Foster Kane is taken from his mother as a boy and made the ward of a rich industrialist. As a result, every well-meaning, tyrannical or self-destructive move he makes for the rest of his life appears in some way to be a reaction to that deeply wounding event.

Viewing Notes

To make the trip worthwhile, I stuck around for the 80th anniversary screening in select cinemas tonight via TCM and Fathom Events. Was me and one other dude. Intro started promptly at 7pm so the house lights were still on so I had to go get someone to turn them off.

Still a warm blanket comfort flick. Was reminded how much Orson Welles looks like my college buddy Shaun. Gotta say that with each restoration/ new scan it makes all the makeup and old age applications look more and more obvious and distracting. I wouldn’t even bother getting that UHD from criterion.
