Viewing Notes
Was great to see this again and on my TV this time instead of my laptop. Really like this movie a lot despite not being familiar with GARO storyline from which this character Bikuu comes from. I guess Sayaka Akimoto portrays the character in the series, too. She’s great and it was neat to see her in this after watching her turn in the latest ASSASSIN movie earlier this year. She didn’t smile in that movie and she doesn’t smile here. I find that amusing since she got her start in AKB48 where they basically have to smile constantly while performing.
This was a pro-fansub but I wish there was a Blu release here. Not sure I noticed on my previous viewing but there is a credit cookie that sets up a sequel that sadly never happened. Perhaps this movie didn’t do so well? It’s odd bc the GARO franchise was still cranking out movies after this one. What was great about this DKUTV broadcast was that it including the BTS featurette (also fansubbed) after the feature film was done. Really cool to see the introductions for the main actors (Sayaka is smiling a lot during this!!) and watching them take direction for some of the scenes. It’s amusing to see Keita Amemiya on set bc it doesn’t look like he’s doing much whereas the other director is doing a lot. Amemiya does hand each main actor a bouquet of flowers following their last bit of shooting. All of it is fascinating and would be great to have on a Blu, which I’m guessing exists on the JP release of the movie.
