Viewing Notes

Borrowed Ron’s dvd so I could revisit this. Forgot so much of it, of course, which is why I needed the rewatch. Such a batshit total mid-90s swing for the fences flick by Hark. Very much his thing but I also believe that only in his mind does he understand and see the story he is telling.

In its simplest form this is just a “I must avenge my father” film. But the journey it takes to get from point A to the finale is nuts. Plus that final battle between Ding On and Falcon is bonkers. I’m surprised I’ve logged so few Vincent Zhao films given how many I watched during his nineties run. Guess I need to revisit those, too!
