Viewing Notes

this title popped up on my TL and reminded me that I’ve been wanting to watch for a while now (having never seen it before). Fortunately it was on HBO MAX. Firstly, this is such a late 90s high school sci-fi horror thriller flick of course set in the PacNW bc everything was set in the PacNW (Thanks, British Columbia!). Secondly, this cast is nuts. All the leads are expected but so great to see Bill Sadler, Steve Railsback and Bruce Greenwood among others.

Katie Holmes really was the It Girl back then, eh? Wild seeing babyfaced Katharine Isabelle. This premise isn’t all that new; it’s a little like DEAD KIDS aka Strange Behavior (1981) and Stepford Wives and other similar stories. The only dopey thing here is that it takes James Marsden’s character a *long* time before he believes what is really happening. Like, dude, come on. A greaser shows up the next day completely clean cut and destroys his muscle car…. you don’t find that odd?

Overall, this is pretty fun for the actors involved. Would pair well with THE FACULTY.
