Viewing Notes

Had to fire up a Godard flick to celebrate his life and immense contribution to cinema. Was happy to find this on on HBO Max given how many times I saw a fun clip from this movie appear on my TL in the last 24 hours. Had never seen this film but now get the reference.

Total absurdist dark comedy. It is at its best when it’s moving from bit to bit rather quickly. When it lingers on the resistance fighters it slows to a crawl. Just batshit weird and intriguing and of course plenty of social and political commentary. Must note that this features actual live animals being slaughtered for food. It’s quite alarming to see this unedited visual of these animals being killed, which we just don’t see anymore.
