Overview

When their ship crash-lands on a remote planet, the marooned passengers soon learn that escaped convict Riddick isn’t the only thing they have to fear. Deadly creatures lurk in the shadows, waiting to attack in the dark, and the planet is rapidly plunging into the utter blackness of a total eclipse. With the body count rising, the doomed survivors are forced to turn to Riddick with his eerie eyes to guide them through the darkness to safety. With time running out, there’s only one rule: Stay in the light.

Viewing Notes

Should’ve made time for this back in 2020! Used to watch this often enough around the time of its release but it’s been a long time since my last viewing (before we were religiously logging our films). Since I’m on a VinD kick this year I picked up the Riddick Complete Collection for cheap so I’m going to revisit all these films.

This is really the perfect role for VinD; he gets to be the tough guy smartass give no fucks character that gets to be around just looking cool and being the badass. he’s so young and similar to xXx he’s in amazing shape with that chiseled physique. The FX hold up very well, too. The creatures are the Zerg right out of Starcraft and ofc I just wanna play Starcraft again… christ how many hours I spent on that game.

Anyways this is fun movie that just drops the viewer into this world and allows us to learn along the way of who and what is going on. I didn’t recall that “Earth” is a thing with all the references to Earth (products, locations, etc). So now I’m curious about the next feature film Chronicles bc I thought that was a whole other thing / universe.
