Soft 7 out of 10 for this drama crime thriller cut right out of real headlines and the perfect off the shelf readymade story for Lifetime Channel or Netflix, these days. There’s something about this, the way it’s shot mostly, that looks like a streaming movie, too. Lots of closeups and POV camera angles.
But I like Daisy and Ben and Brooklyn and the unsettling nature of how this is presented. It does leave questions about a few things but I can let most of that slide. I saw that Daisy had a dialect coach in the credits; she just needs to not take roles that require her to any kind of accent but she struggled with this one. You could see it in her face that she was concentrating on how to deliver her lines with that accent. Didn’t work for me.
