Viewing Notes

I like the premise and most of the movie but it begins with such an egregious misstep that it’s hard to overlook for the remainder of the film. Someone close to Walter Hill should have gotten into his ear and convinced him to cast a male lookalike for the Frank Kitchen character. Even knowing that for many movies a certain suspension of disbelief is required yet it’s impossible to overlook that Frank appears nothing like a dude other than the fake beard Rodriguez has glued to her face.

I do like the story so maybe on the revisit it won’t be as bad. Knowing Hill it was a very intentional choice to use Rodriguez in both roles but again hurts the movie in ways he probably never considered.
