Viewing Notes

You’d think a movie in the Patlabor franchise with Patlabor in the title would have actual Labors in it. Oh it does but they don’t show up until the final sequence and are barely utilized. So weird. If this was just a standard military thriller it would be easier to accept.

Most of the movie is just talking and more talking. The highlight is the siege on the terrorist base in which Kaysha (Rina Ohta) destroys dudes. This movie needed way more of that and a less talking.

That’s a 8/10 scene in a 5/10 movie. I do like the Grey Ghost helicopter but it makes no sense why Haibara would turn off the invisibility camo during the battle. A lot of that final sequence doesn’t add up.

Apparently there’s an extended director’s cut which I’d like to see but no idea how to obtain it.
