On the surface, Saya is a stunning 16-year-old, but that youthful exterior hides the tormented soul of a 400-year-old “halfling”. Born to a human father and a vampire mother, she has for centuries been a loner obsessed with using her samurai skills to rid the world of vampires, all the while knowing that she herself can survive only on blood like those she hunts.

Viewing Notes
In 2009* either I watched nearly all bangers and classics or I was a total dumbass. Probably both. Fun to see old man Kurata here even in that awful bald cap. Corey Yuen was the action director and it shows in that street fight outside the bar.
Tonight DKUTV did a double feature of movies based on the CLAMP manga / anime Blood-C. The second feature was ASURA GIRL which I just watched earlier this week. It’s not nearly as good as this movie. Jun Ji-hyun who portrays Saya in this film would go on to be *that* girl in THE THIEVES. I loaned my Blu to Pat but didn’t get back before he moved away. Now it’s OOP. :(
