Viewing Notes

Wish I had caught this on Prime bc the Hoopla stream is always garbage. Odd film that’s tonally all over the place. Reminds me of a manga or anime adaptation (it’s not from what I gather but has that vibe). Like goes from Vanness goofing around pretending to be a meth chef to innocent girls getting shot in the head. Plus that light jazz score reminded me of Cowboy Bebop. Six screenwriters listed in the credits probably didn’t help.

I do like seeing Andy On and Philip Ng mixing it up again which was the main reason why I chose this and suffered the Hoopla experience. Just too many headscratching moments like the former partners of Ha (On) just let him walk away when Eva could’ve of just shot him dead right there. Lots of strange stuff (the blind sniper kill is absurd). I guess Nicolas Tse just signed on for a mortgage payment (and why would his character drive a Mercedes??). Weird film but I like Philip Ng a lot and always cool to see Lam Suet hamming it up.
