Viewing Notes

If you like your coming of age stories ladled with two spoonfuls of rape, MAID IN SWEDEN is your meal.

As I’m new to sexploitation movies and themes of the genre, I don’t have much to compare it to. Keeping that in mind, I don’t really understand the message of the movie, which seems to be that all men want to rape all women and that women can only truly unlock their sexual desire and be free through that act. It could be classified as soft core “rape fantasy” (as heard / read from Dan Savage frequently), but that’s about as far as my interest extends to legitamize the “plot,” given the era of women’s sexual liberation in which this film was made.

Aside from sex, as I imagine most sexploitation films to be, the film has very little other than smirking at some horrible disco dancing and listening to some of the worst dialog ever recorded.
