Viewing Notes

This was the scheduled film for Chicago Film Society at NEIU tonight. My library had it on the shelf so I picked it up rather than spend the $$ and effort to go down to NEIU and see this in 35mm.

This is fine. Didn’t realize it was partly a musical. Was getting stage play vibes b/c that’s what this feels like. Yep, it’s an adaptation of a play. I like Myrna Loy the most here but she’s a side character and under-utilized. I can see why this is favorably rated but not really my thing.

These kinds of films are always a toss up for me when CFS schedules them. They definitely program to their personal tastes which occasionally are not aligned with mine. This is another example. Glad I didn’t make the trip.
