Hard-hitting film noir based on true events. The opening titles are preceded by 15 minutes of Clete Roberts interviewing actual citizens of Phenix City who were affected by the crime and corruption.
The film itself is pretty shocking for a 1955 release. Gambling, prostitution, political assassination, and the murder of a black child. Brutal.
