Overview

Ichiro Miki is a child living in the industrial district of Kawasaki, where his parents’ constant struggle to make ends meet often leaves the schoolboy alone. Constantly teased by a bully nicknamed Gabara, his only friends are toy consultant Shinpei and fellow classmate Sachiko. Ichiro turns to escapist dreams of Monster Island where he befriends the equally bullied Minilla.

Viewing Notes

Not so good.  Clearly aimed at the kiddie audience.  Baby Godzilla is back, and sorry, I’m not a fan of Minilla.  The way it starts, I was assuming it would be a commentary on industrialism and pollution, but that doesn’t go anywhere.

Actually, the best part of the movie is the awesome theme song:

    It’s the march of the monsters!
    An awesome juggernaut destroying everything in its path!
    Go-Go-Godzilla fires his atomic breath
    Wham! Bang! Crash! They pulverize everything!
    But it ain’t easy being a monster. 

Take that, Taylor Swift!
